Dr. Heather Crawford, D.C., CCSP
Originally from central Pennsylvania, I have lived in Bradenton since I was 9 years old. I am excited to help heal our community naturally through chiropractic care and active rehabilitation. As a graduate of Florida State University with a degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology, the body has always fascinated me. After college, I worked as a chiropractic assistant to ensure that I wanted to pursue chiropractic as my profession. I was even more excited after being exposed to the chiropractic way of life! I headed off to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida. After 4 years as an associate, I decided to spread my knowledge and passion in my own clinic, thus Harbor Chiropractic was born.
My first adjustment…
Was I nervous? Definitely!! I was a varsity cheerleader at Florida State University and woke up one morning unable to take a full breath in and had pain wrapping around my side. I didn’t know what to do and called my coach who set me up with an appointment with the team chiropractor that morning. I went in, stated what I had going on, went through a series of tests and was adjusted. I was, at that point, contemplating if I wanted to go to dental school or physical therapy school, and I have to admit I was a little skeptical of receiving chiropractic care. My rib head was adjusted back into proper alignment and I returned to practice that evening with little to no pain. I was absolutely amazed at the results, just like so many other patients are when they come into see us. The truth is when the body is in the proper alignment, we are able to maintain full function of our body, virtually pain free. I am so thankful that I found chiropractic and get to share it with our wonderful community.
What if I would have found out about the benefits of chiropractic care sooner?
My parents and I joke about this regularly. A little about my athletic past, I am a former gymnast and powerlifter. I did gymnastics for over 10 years and am a 3-time Florida high school powerlifting state champion. Obviously, I trained A LOT! Looking back I think, “What if my family had gone to the chiropractor all of those years?” Would I have improved performance? Would I have been faster and stronger? Would I have had more coordination? Would I have recovered quicker? The truth is, my family did not know the benefits of chiropractic care, just like many families within our community. With a properly functioning nervous system, our bodies perform better, whether we are young or old. Why do you think all of the elite athletes and sports teams have a chiropractor on staff? Chiropractic is not always for pain… it can also help with performance! It is because of this reason that I have attained the post graduate designation of Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® and look forward to caring for those who wish to remain fit.
My passion is to help others feel better throughout their daily lives. Whether it’s to help athletic performance, help little ones with ear aches and colic, or maintain function in the elderly, chiropractic helps the body heal itself by removing joint misalignments and opening the lines of communication from the brain to our organs and muscles. We always offer free consultations, please call today to schedule and learn how chiropractic can help you!
